FOLLOW THIS LINK TO THE FIRST FEW PAGES OF THE BOOK
The pages will be self-explanatory and give you a great deal of information about the book!.
This book was first written and published in Japanese for the Okinawan and Japanese people. The book was first published in 1926. It would be released in (English) in the edition I have in 1977. Many of the original picture are barely discernable!
There is another version of this book that has been "computer enhanced". Two strikes against this book: 1) It costs $75.00. 2) The new "translators/editors" have added many pages that were not in the original book!
Choki Motobu was James Mitose's uncle - on his fathers side! The Motobu's were of Bushi (warrior class) in Okinawa. However, following the Japanese tradition - only the eldest son (Choyu) inherited the family legacy. Since Choki was not the first born son, that left him pretty much on his own. Choki would become one of the most renowned of all the Okinawa "Karate-ka"! He was most famous for his power and "street" fighting ability!
In the future I will devote and entire section to Choki Motobu.
